The purpose of this white paper is to provide guidance on maintaining the mechanical integrity of flexible hoses used to transfer sodium hydroxide solution (NaOH), potassium hydroxide solution (KOH), hydrochloric acid (HCl), and sodium hypochlorite (bleach) into/from cargo tanks. In this document, sodium hydroxide solution and potassium hydroxide solution will collectively be referred to as caustic or caustic solution. The guidance in this white paper represents a compendium of Institute membership experience.
